Fireworks cause nearly 20,000 home fires each year. Also, fireworks injure 9,300 people a year. They are a wonderful way to celebrate special occasions However, fireworks pose certain risks, and safety procedures need to be followed to ensure a safe night. 

Here are some tips to avoid any mishaps this holiday. 

Avoid buying fireworks that are packaged in brown paper. This is often a sign that they were made for professional displays and could pose a danger to consumers.

Always have water handy in case of an emergency. 

Aim the Fireworks away from flammable material and people.

Never extend body parts over the device

Never relight a 'dud' fire work.
